Terms and Agreement

At Golden Wings Aviary, we are committed to providing healthy, well-socialized parrots while ensuring transparency, professionalism, and customer confidence. Due to the rarity and value of certain species, the following Terms of Sale have been established to protect both our clients and our business.

Bird Health & Quality Assurance

All birds offered by Golden Wings Aviary are either parent-reared, hand-reared, or a combination of both to ensure proper development and socialization. Each bird is fitted with a closed stainless steel identification ring for traceability.

Every bird undergoes comprehensive disease testing prior to sale, including:

  • Psittacosis (Chlamydia Psittaci)
  • PBFD (Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease)
  • Avian Polyoma Virus
  • Borna Virus

A health certificate identifying the bird by its closed ring is provided at purchase. All birds originate from disease-tested parent stock confirmed negative for the above conditions.

Clients may request independent testing by collecting samples and submitting them to a laboratory at their own expense. Our in-house testing is provided at no additional cost. Birds with specific genetic traits, such as split-to-blue mutations, are supplied with a certificate of guarantee.

Reservation & Deposit Policy

To reserve a bird, a 25% non-refundable deposit or applicable holding fee is required, depending on the arrangement. This secures the bird and confirms buyer commitment.

  • Deposits are non-refundable unless a verified health issue is identified or disease tests return positive results.
  • If a buyer withdraws for personal or financial reasons, the deposit will be retained.
  • Holding fees may be applied as a one-time credit toward a future purchase under specific conditions.
  • Birds reserved as “unsexed” must be accepted regardless of gender unless otherwise agreed.

We advise clients to note that natural variations, such as size differences between Eclectus parrots and blue mutations, are not valid reasons for cancellation.

Buyer Responsibility

By purchasing from Golden Wings Aviary, clients confirm they have conducted adequate research on the species and understand its care requirements. This includes:

  • Providing a clean, safe, and enriching environment
  • Supplying proper nutrition
  • Scheduling regular checkups with a certified avian veterinarian

Golden Wings Aviary is not responsible for damages, injuries, or behavioral issues once the bird has left our care.

Post-Purchase Health Guarantee

All birds are presumed healthy at the time of sale. Buyers are strongly encouraged to have their bird examined by a qualified avian or exotic veterinarian within 5 days of delivery or pickup.

If a serious pre-existing health condition is confirmed:

  • The bird may be returned for a full refund, or
  • Exchanged for another bird of equal value (subject to availability)

Conditions:

  • The bird must be returned before any refund or replacement is issued
  • Veterinary and shipping costs are the buyer’s responsibility
  • Minor stress-related infections are not covered unless deemed severe

Failure to complete a veterinary check within 5 days voids any health guarantee.

Mortality & Necropsy Policy

In the rare event of a post-sale death, a necropsy must be performed within 72 hours by a certified veterinarian or laboratory to determine the cause.

  • The bird must be refrigerated (not frozen) prior to examination
  • Full documentation and photographic evidence are required
  • Refunds are only considered if a pre-existing condition is confirmed

Necropsy costs are not covered by Golden Wings Aviary.

Shipping & Delivery

Shipping is primarily conducted via Delta Airlines, ensuring safe and regulated transport.

  • In the rare case of a DOA (dead on arrival), clients must provide immediate proof (photos and video before opening the crate) to qualify for a refund on the bird
  • Shipping costs are non-refundable
  • If a bird appears unwell upon arrival, clients must notify us immediately with supporting evidence

For international clients, Golden Wings Aviary can arrange to meet at a designated entry point:

  • $400 travel fee and $200 veterinary certification fee will be deducted from the deposit
  • These fees are non-refundable if the sale is not completed

Extended Care Policy

Once fully weaned, birds must be collected within 7 days.

  • $20 weekly care fee applies thereafter (maximum of 4 weeks)
  • Fees must be paid in advance
  • Failure to maintain communication or payment will result in forfeiture of the deposit and relisting of the bird

Security & Viewing Policy

For security and biosecurity reasons, access to our breeding facilities is restricted. Meetings for viewing, testing, or collection will take place at a mutually agreed secure location.

Final Sale Terms

All sales are considered final once the bird leaves our care, except under the specific health guarantee conditions outlined above. By proceeding with a purchase, clients confirm they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Sale.
